The key that many miss with The Law of Attraction is the point of being certain. Leaving out certainty affects the whole concept of, ‘you get what you think about.’ Have you ever noticed how you feel, think and behave when you are just know something of yourself, when you are sure of yourself? This is being certain. There is a huge difference between being certain and wanting in the results you may get using the Law of Attraction
Just to make sure we are in alignment with the use of the word “certain”, because there are two general meanings which are quite different. Here is the definition for the word certain that I’m referring to here
The definition of “Certain” as I’m referring to here according to the Collins English Dictionary, Complete and Unabridged Edition, 2003 is;
Wallace Wattles discussed being certain in this way in his book, “The Science of Getting Rich” highlighting this definition of the word. This book relates well to The Law of Attraction. It’s an old book but considered by many to be one of the best in regards to how your thinking relates to getting what you want. Can you recall something that you just did without thinking about how or if you could? Perhaps deciding to ride your bicycle to the park or store, didn’t you just get on and go? Of course this is a very basic example, but I’m sure you can relate to many situation in your life where you just did something. You decided and did it, without worry, doubts or fears about your ability, the exact how or if it’s even possible, you were being certain.
There have been a lot of studies done on highly successful people that have brought to light their mindset and habits. But I think this one aspect is not usually brought out well enough for us to see clearly. This is of course a very crucial aspect in our ability to be, do or have anything, our ability and choice of being certain about our desires.
I have noticed myself that the people who seem to generally get what they want are very certain about it, they just know. They just know that all it takes is for them to decide, “I’m going to do this, or get this.” There is little to no quibbling in their mind as to if, whether, how, is it possible, when, their capabilities or skills, or obtaining the resources. When it’s just a given that it is so, that they can and will, they are being certain.
Whereas, individuals who seem to get much less of what they want struggle with the how’s, whens and what ifs, and all the reasons why not. They are not being certain, they are stuck in want and hope, which keeps the desire at arms length.
The person who is certain may see some possible hindrances, but see them as just temporary things that will get resolved along the way somehow, someway. Their level of certainty completely overrides any questions, doubts and worries. The law of attraction functions through the thoughts of our certainty, not just want. Being certain is being there now, in your mind, not having to get there. You have the part and are totally ready and able to perform it.

Affirmative questions or ‘Afformations’ can help you make the changes you want to improve your life.
Affirmations have been touted as a way to assist your mind in supporting what you want through aligned thinking. It has been shown to have a great deal of effectiveness when used properly. It’s important to know that just making positive statements alone may not bring about what you want, but it can be a help. There are other factors involved.
One of the most common factors that can detract from the effectiveness of an affirmation is your beliefs and perceptions. Most people are not fully aware of them all, yet they are a major controlling factor in their lives. If you make a positive statement related to something you want and it is not congruent with a belief you are not aware of, your mind will argue with the statement. After you have made the statement, your mind may come back with, “yea, right . . . not in a million years!” or “You’re not like that, stop trying to pretend.”
Part of your mind will make a comparison between what you are saying you want and the knowledge and experience you have collected up to this point in your life. You may say, “I am living an abundant life.” and your mind comes back with, “No you’re not, you’re poor, look at the evidence, and always have been.” So does this mean you are stuck with what you’ve had? No, but you may need to do more than make affirmation statements to get your mind to assist you with experiencing something different.
In understanding how the mind works you can do things that has it working for your growth and progress rather than keeping you the same. One way is to utilize the minds natural tendency to solve and answer. I’m sure you are familiar with how your mind helps you come up with reasons why you should be upset about something you are upset about. How your mind chatter will be helping you to justify four feelings and prove why you should think and feel as you do.
The human mind is designed to solve or answer a need or unknown. Have you noticed how motivated people are to discover an unknown, or to get information they don’t have? Pose a question or a need and there is a strong inner drive to get an answer. The mind naturally wants to come up with a way to fill in the void of the unknown. What sells magazines? Leading questions that create awareness of an unknown that a person craves to know. The headlines of many magazines are utilizing one of the most basic human drives, the need to know!
You can use this natural basic human tendency for your advantage in making changes in your life. Rather than make statements that your mind can argue with, make statements it wants to help answer or solve for you. Ask leading questions that direct your mind to work for you, helping come up with why and how you are as you want to be, do or have.
For example, if you want to be healthy and energetic and you have not been so in the past, making the statement, “I am healthy and energetic.” may get a negation from your mind. So instead ask your mind a question. Ask, “Why am I so healthy and energetic?”
Your mind will now be seeking ways to answer and satisfy your question. You have actually been doing this for a long time but probably in a negative way. It’s so common for people to ask themselves a series of questions that confirm the undesirable. “Why am I so . . . ?, Why do I always . . . ?, why don’t I . . . ? and so on. But this form of self questioning is not often used in a positive affirming way. Your mind will go about providing you answers, proof and evidence to whatever you ask it. The most powerful way to change your thinking is to alter the unseen patterns of thought that are guiding most of your life experience. Your mind will do this as it develops and integrates the answers to your questions.
Noah St. John labeled this kind of affirmative question ‘Afformations’ in his book, [amazon ASIN=”0061715743”]”The Secret Code of Success: 7 Hidden Steps to More Wealth and Happiness”[/amazon]. You can get his full explanation of using affirmative question statements to get your mind aligning with what you want, along with specific examples in many areas of life in his book.
Here are some examples on how to convert the non affirming questions and statements you may be saying to yourself:
“Why don’t I have enough money?” to “Why do I have more than enough money?”
“Why am I never happy?” to “Why am I so happy?”
“Why am I alone?” to “Why am I in this great relationship?”
As Noah St John suggests, convert your negative questions into positive affirming questions about what you do want. This can be done with negative self statements as well as in. . .
Using affirmative questions, or ‘Affirmations’, is a powerful way to change your self-talk, to alter the thought patterns you are unaware of, and to get your mind to go to work unveiling ways for you to be, do and have what you want.
If you take the time to integrate this practice into your life I feel you will find yourself getting some great results.
I see everything as being of one source, one energy in different forms. All energy just ‘is’, it’s not truly positive or negative, this or that. Polarity and duality explains contrasting forms for use in our play-field of reality so that we have options for our creative thought.
This provides us with that which we can then choose to focus our attention on, which directs creation. What we term as bad drives us to recognize what we see as good. What is undesirable versus desirable. We could say that individual perception is a polarity, some see the glass as half full, others half empty.
If everything is made up of the same energy, then in the larger picture, there is no good and bad. And nothing is actually here then not, or alive, then dead. When one form dissipates, it returns to the basic energy. This happens on a grand scale just as it happens on a physical scale here on earth when matter decomposes.
Time is considered a polarity which is a contrast as well, where actually now is all there is. With one end being the past and the other the future, we see time as a line to be traveled, from here, to there. The past and future are for our mental comparison and manipulation, they are not real in the physical sense except in our thought. You can’t do anything in the past or future, only right now. We use the past and future concepts in our thinking processes as a way to analyze our now.
So, basically what we term polarity and duality is a part of our physical reality through our perception, as is everything we experience. How we read the scale of polarity is individual, but we are influenced by perceptions held in race consciousness. This all changes as our perception of it changes.
I feel that if one can grasp this concept that we are all part of the one energy and will always be so, the concept of Unity becomes obvious. We no longer fear the unknown, change or even what we term death because whatever form we are in, we are always who we are, the one energy.
Great ideas are put to bed
Because fears and doubts invade your head
Time does fly, you wonder why
Those great ideas have passed you by
The greatest philosophers, they have said
We become what’s in our head
What we think is how we act
Thoughts determine our lives exact
It’s all in you, imagination
Positive thoughts, a great sensation
Why don’t you start a brand new fashion
Live your life with belief and passion
Kick those doubts and fears away
And you will create a brighter day
For you are a shining star
Act on great thoughts and you’ll go far
When you know this, it’s plain to see
Your thoughts suppress
Or set you free!

“I am what I am, I’m Popeye the Sailor Man.” Could it be that simple?
I hope you remember or know of the old cartoons, “Popeye The Sailor Man“? If not I suggest you watch a couple on YouTube so you will see what I’m talking about here. It is an entertaining way to get a huge life lesson, believing in yourself. Yes, we can get personal growth from cartoons.
Something that happens on every episode is that Popeye goes from being lackluster and in an undesirable situation, to an energized, self-confident fireball taking care of business.
The analogy I see here with Popeye is that he transforms once he realizes who he really is and what he is capable of. Which is what we all can do.
When Popeye remembers who he really is, his arms bulge out, his eyes light up, is energy increases, he gets ideas that help him get out of a fix, he’s determined, and he gets things done fast . ..and he feels good about himself! . . . and he gets the girl!
When he knows who he is and what he is capable of, he does not hesitate, wonder, or ponder the fact, he just goes into action as if guided by a greater force. We all can do this! The people who KNOW that they are a certain way, can DO a certain thing, or even have something, just KNOW it!
There is no, “I wonder if?’ it’s just a matter of when. In our physical reality, there is a time lag, a gestation period between our thoughts and the experience. This is so that every little thought we have does not come out immediately in a physical form.
If this did occur, our life would be like that movie The Mask, where the character played by Jim Carey did physically enact everything he thought, as he thought it. If our knowing and belief that we actually are a certain way is strong enough, the not experiencing of it in the now, is not enough to deter us or to allow doubts, fears and worries take over.
Knowing who and what you are is different that wondering and hoping . . . it’s a belief! And yes, it is a choice. The reason we may not be enjoying everything we desire in life is because we are not in total belief of it, we are in a state of hoping or wanting. When in hope and want, we are separating ourselves from what we desire. When we believe, we have total confidence in ourself, our abilities and our actions.
Believing in something, even if unseen, places it in the now – whereas wanting something places it in the future. There is actually only now, there is no future in reality, you can only experience something NOW. Thinking about something as in the future is really thinking that you want it in your now at some point. So until you bring it into now, it will always be in the future.
This can be tough to grasp, but it is the difference between actually experiencing something and wanting it. Most sages and now science say that the only true reality is NOW. People who appear to be, do and have so easily are doing this, and they may not even be aware that they are. In their minds, they ARE the successful person, they HAVE lots of money, they CAN do certain things, even if they are not yet experiencing them!
So, with Popeye, is it the spinach? No, that’s just a metaphor for what it takes for him to wake up and realize who he really is. In reality, it’s our thought that does this. But just easy as it is to open a can of spinach and eat it, you can flip the switch on your thoughts.
One of the key ‘works’ of life is to come to the realization of who you truly are and what you are capable of, then to accept it completely with total faith, even before the related physical manifestation shows up. You must BE something in your belief before you will experience it.
On a personal level, this is what is meant by, I AM that I AM. It’s a declaration of self. Whatever you declare and believe yourself to be, do and have guides your experience in life. This is not just a wanting affirmation, it must be total belief. If your mind is saying, “yea, but” you do not believe!
Declare who you are, and believe it!
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get stuck in a mode of complaining about things even though that’s not you conscious intention? Why is this, even when we basically don’t want to be doing it? In personal growth work, understanding your thinking can be a great help with managing what you may think you are stuck with and not have any control of.
What I’m talking about comes out in a glaring way at times when we are in a group of people that gets going on complaining or criticizing another person. Have you witnessed how the group seems to get on a roll, with each person adding another and another related comment? If we are not careful about our presence of mind we can get pulled right into it.
Now, the reason complaining starts in the first place is a different matter, here I want to address what happens in our mind to keep feeding it. Once we start it is so easy to keep on with it and even enhance it even when it may not be in our normal character.
It has to do with the way your brain works, your brain is a seeking, answering mechanism. It wants to solve or satisfy what you are telling it through your conscious thought. Essentially everything you are thinking is a question to your brain. A question your brain is programmed to either answer by finding proof or find more of the same to validate your conscious thinking. Your brain wants to support and please you! It will quickly show you that what you are thinking is ‘correct’.
So, when you either start complaining yourself or you are listening to others complain, the brain goes to work finding more related content for you to back up your current thoughts. This validates your thinking, and yes what another person is saying, you are thinking about. If you agree or go along with what they are saying, you are thinking it yourself, thus asking for more of the same, or validation.
This is how you get a related thought popping up which leads to your statement about it. If you had complained, this new thought will likely be another related complaint. If you are making negative comments about another person, your brain will help you find more, and even bring up other people to criticize in a similar way.
Of course this works for all thinking, so it if very beneficial to you when your thoughts are happy and positive. Your brain will seek more of the same for you. The key in this is thought command. All of this brain activity is instigated by your conscious thought. Your conscious thought, which you can choose all of, is ultimately the director of your mind. If you are in command of your conscious and subconscious thinking.
However, the subconscious mind might be doing some things that it thought you wanted at an earlier time. This is where thought habits and beliefs are stored as programs to be turned on when a new related thought comes from your conscious mind. This is a topic for another article, but briefly, this is why you may have behavior that you are not sure why you have.
Even though these programs turn on automatically and direct your thinking and behavior, you are still ultimately in command consciously. You just need to recognize what is going on so that you can redirect or reprogram them as you now want.
In regards to complaining, in order to not have our mind help us complain, it is necessary to take command of our thinking. This means that you must first notice what you are thinking, then you can make a choice to keep on with it or change it. This is where the ‘master switch’ of your thinking is, in your conscious choice of thought. You don’t need to stay with a complaining though, or agree with others as they complain.
Just because something did happen, it does not mean you must let it continue. Because others are having a complaining session, or that you have noticed that you complained, you can choose to change that pattern of thought. You must specifically put in new thoughts, there can be no voids in thought, thee must be some thought. Choose a line of thought that is based more on being happy and loving.
Choosing your intentions and watching to keep your thoughts aligned with them is where you power is. Like anything with regards to managing your thinking, it can take some practice to get efficient at it. But doing what you can right now is better than waiting for some perfection, the doing will bring about more ability to assert your command of your thoughts.
How often have you found that you either, can’t seem to get going in the morning or that the stuff of daily life just seems to suck you in real fast? So, right from the early hours of the day you are already dragging and are mentally off base.
This of course is not a preferable state of mind to be in, you are not really in command of your thinking, in touch with yourself or very focused on what you would like. This kind of mindset will have you easily repeating an unintended cycle day in and day out. The only way to progress in life is to become present with your awareness and be in command of your thinking.
So, how can you change this habit of falling into this same cycle every day? One way is by centering yourself in the morning. There are various ways this can be done, one is by positive self statements. This could be called affirmations, but that would not fully describe this method of centering and energizing yourself. The point is to boost your self-confidence and set the right attitude so you can be more focused and powerful as you go about your day.
In the morning after you first get up and you have done any other self centering exercises such as meditation or visualization, stand in front of a mirror – look yourself in the eye.
Ask yourself, “Who an I?”
Then make some powerful affirmative statements about yourself.
I am powerful!
I am talented!
I am loving!
I am efficient, I get things done!
I am the best at . . . !
These statements can be anything positive you want to say about yourself.
More will come to you as you begin to do this.
Say these statements to yourself verbally with energy and conviction!
Get loud if you want, this will enhance the energy build up.
The idea is to get yourself to believe these things about yourself, and to feel the energy of them.
You will find yourself not only waking up to the day easier, but more energized and positive about yourself going into the day.
Here is a wonderful example I came across to show you how it can be done.
